Our History

Research and Development has been the corner stone of our business.  Future Village originated out of Peter Casimaty's family company, StrathAyr Portable that designed and developed the Drop-in Cricket pitch that is used across major stadiums in Australia.  The business also developed a portable tennis court for tennis australia and a modular turf surface for stadiums.  In 2017 after designing 800m2 of portable garden beds for Floriade (largest flower show in the southern hemisphere) the business changed direction and began looking at the urban landscape.

The business was named Plantabox and the original renamed Portagrass.  Plantabox began by developing the worlds first modular turf and garden trays and was the first to introduce water reservoirs and wicking into commercial planters. In 2020 we developed the worlds first commercial Hanging Baskets with reservoirs and wicking.

Since 2017 and the growth of green infrastructure and the placemaking movement, Plantabox has continued to expand our range and services. We now offer full design, project management, installation and maintenance services as well as an expansive range of green infrastructure and placemaking products.  In 2022 we purchased People Parkers that provides road parklets that are placed by tilt trays or towed into car parking spaces. We also formed a partnership with Urban Canopee that provides canopy cover where trees can not be planted.

In 2024 we combined Plantabox and People Parkers to trade under the name Future Village

Future Villages main operation is located in Glenhaven NSW with operations also provided out of Melbourne.
